Review, Everville: The first pillar, and (for me) the last.
I love young adult Fantasy novels, but this one is a failure. Thanks for allowing me to read this book, Roy, but you should have had it edited before going to press. I managed to get halfway through without giving up and I don’t give up easily on books. The straw that broke my back was the very poorly described journey by the
Keeper, it felt like I was being told a story by a ten year old. The keeper travelled, through ice and snow, couldn’t travel any further, so he lit a fire and slept, Then through forest and desert where he was grabbed by giants (In a tunnel too cramped for the keeper?), then said ‘Oh that was difficult’, but the words hardly conveyed life threatening problems.
The descriptions and flow of the book were poor.
This book could be good, but has a long, long way to go. Not recommended.
