R-day by P.T.Mayes.
The government has decided to create a revenge (Re-adjustment) day. A day when killing is legal, if you have a license and anyone can get one.
The main character is a loathsome, Casanova, who loves women and money. He decides to fly home to the UK for R-day, against all good sense. The ride to get home is fraught with danger and death, but Anthony, keeps on with his unknown task, rather than returning home for his wedding anniversary.
This book turned out to be a good dystopian thriller, there was no lack of action or detail. For me the sex could have been skimmed over as it added nothing to the story. The main character, I found difficult to like, I don’t know whether Mr. Mayes intended it this way, but by the end I wanted him out of the way.
I did enjoy this rollercoaster ride and so give it a solid four stars
