Ten Thousand Heroes by P.T.Mayes
    Five stars.
As soon as I started to read I realized this was a children’s book, aimed at 7 plus audience, at first I thought I’d be a little disappointed, but it proved to be quite the reverse.
The story starts like all good tales, in a normal village, in Kent, with three normal kids. From there it quickly elevates itself to one of the best children’s books I’ve read, as good as any Dahl or any Blyton. The style falls somewhere between the two with some deliciously disgusting and other parts filled with wholesome adventure and lots of heroes and villains, ten thousand to be exact. Every chapter left me giggling and turning to the next, I was drawn deeply into the world of Little Shipley and didn’t want to leave. Alas after two day I’d finished this future classic and walked away with a smile, like a certain cat, plastered on my face.
If you or your kids like reading, then this comedy, adventure has to be on your to read list.
If you like this, try ‘The Family Itch’ I think you’ll like that too.

Collapse (New America Book 1) by Richard Stephenson

The future of the world and America, in the hands of corrupt politicians, fighting against a mighty Islamic Iranian Empire, this story has a great premise, and is told in a well written style from many and varying points of view.

What become clear is the USA is on its last legs and something has to give. .

I did enjoy this book and felt for the character and the horrible plights, but towards the end I became a bit disillusioned with the forced conversations and what felt like a over concocted ending.

I don’t think I’ll read the second part, even though the book shows America where it could be ending.

            Three stars, an OK read.
