Peace Warrior by Steven L Hawk

A fast paced futuristic, war story. This book held me from minute one and I kept going back to my kindle to read a few more pages.

Sergeant Justice died in the first part of the book, then is reanimated in 600 years time, to face a world full of peace, where mankind are sheep to be slaughtered.

This would have had five stars, but for a few minor points that left me questioning the whole content.

The book however is well worth a read.

Stephen Hawk can definitely write a captivating thriller.

Book Review

Slow Burn by Bobby Adair

Told as a classic first person zombie novel, a bit slow and lightweight to start, but when it gets going, this a real 5 star cracking read.

The main character, Zed, is well written and a likeable hero. His sidekicks come from the dregs of humanity and are left outside it.

Neither Zombie nor human, the drive to survive, made this book a page turner. I loved this as it is a real tough guy Zombie novel, no high kicking teenage girlie terror.

Recommended.

Steam Punk

Book review.

Dawn of steam: first light by Jeffrey Cook

A good intro to the steam punk Genre. The characters are well thought out and thoroughly English the point of Fascism. The main character and his side kicks became anti heroes to me as I wanted to see their superior snooty arses kicked, but rule Britannia.

The story itself was well written and thought out, the downside, and why it got only three stars was the slow, ponderous and repetitive nature of the telling.

If you like Verne, then this is better written and easier to access, but if you like fast action, this will let you down.

I’ll say, finally, this book could have been so much better, with a little more editing and a faster paced story.
